A friend of mine's mom lives on the Navajo reservation in Arizona. I took a vacation to California and we drove out there in a rented car. The funny thing was that when we got to the reservation I asked "what's her address." He replied "I don't know. We just gotta ask around." We finally got directions to her home from a tiny old woman driving a giant 4WD Toyota truck who pulled up next to our car and asked if we needed help finding something.

While visiting the Parents in Maryland, I took a trip over to Antietam, the civil war battlefield in Maryland where twelve hours of fighting resulted in 23,000 casualties on September 17, 1862. Also called the Battle of Sharpsburg.

On the way back from visiting the parents in Maryland one weekend, I went a bit out of my way to stop at Gettysburg. At one point I stopped the car to get out and take pictures. I left the car running and of course locked my keys in the car with the car running and my cell phone inside. While I waited there for another car to drive by (it was winter) an old many walked up the road and stopped to chat. I asked him if he'd seen any civil war battlefield recreations and he said no, which was surprising because he lived in a house in the middle of the battlefield for the past 50 or so years.
